Eger Wine: Historic Blends and Cool-Climate Character

Eger is one of Hungary’s best-known wine regions, surrounded by the Bükk Mountains in the north of the country. It is famous for Egri Bikavér, the historic red blend often known internationally as Bull’s Blood, but the modern region produces a much broader range of refined red and white wines.

Kékfrankos frequently provides the backbone of Eger’s red wines, joined by both indigenous and international varieties. The region is also home to Egri Csillag, a white blend that highlights Eger’s fresher side.
