Single-vineyard Grand Superior Bull’s Blood from Sík-hegy
Plum · Fig · Blueberry · Chocolate
Deep · Complex · Structured · Velvety
12.8% ABV · 75cl
A single-vineyard Grand Superior Egri Bikavér from Sík-hegy — deep, complex and built around dark fruit, toasted spice and velvety tannins.
Deep garnet-red in colour, Várvédő opens with subtle leather and pronounced toasted notes, led by roasted chestnut. Blueberry, cherry and plum follow, while time in the glass reveals a Mediterranean layer of basil-like spice and dried tomato.
In the glass
The palate brings dried plum, fig and intense toasted notes, supported by lively acidity and velvety tannins. Chocolate and dried plum return on the finish, alongside a chalky, gently drying character.
Why it’s special
This Grand Superior Bikavér comes from Eger’s Sík-hegy vineyard and blends Kékfrankos, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. The varieties were harvested separately and fermented in stainless steel tanks and vats before ageing in younger and new Hungarian and French oak barrels of 500 and 225 litres. After two years of ageing, the final blend was assembled and rested for several more months in stainless steel before bottling.
